Regent of Rotorua: Best Accommodation Rotorua

If your travels to New Zealand include some time on the North Island, don’t miss a visit to Rotorua! This geothermal area is a unique destination that offers several adventurous activities. After we decided we wanted to see this area the next item was to nail down our accommodation Rotorua. After some research using Visit Rotorua, we settled on Regent of Rotorua for our Rotorua accommodation.

Don’t judge the book by the cover of this boutique hotel & spa. Upon arrival, it feels like pulling into a roadside motel. The building actually was a motel at one point of time until under new ownership Regent of Rotorua has upgraded interiors and delivered a boutique feel.

The courtyard area has a nice lounging section, communal tables, and pool. During our November trip, the weather was not suitable for pool use but it created a nice visual regardless.

THE ROOM

For views of the courtyard, book a Superior Room which is on the second floor.

Upon entering the room, you step right into the main living area. It’s very spacious with multiple seating areas for two people. In addition to seating, a spacious desk and countertop area is also part of this space.

We really liked the modern color scheme and design of the rooms which make this the perfect accommodation in Rotorua.

To the right is a separate room containing the bed. After our busy day exploring the geothermal areas, we instantly took a nap to recharge.

The final area of the room was the bathroom. The shower and tub were both spacious and really made it feel like a 4-star accommodation in Rotorua.

Our complaint with the bathroom was the single sink and lack of counter space. Perhaps we are spoiled because we have two sinks at home but in hotel rooms, we appreciate the added space of a dual sink.

THE AREA

When choosing our accommodation in Rotorua the second most important feature to the room is the location of the property. Regent of Rotorua nails the location.  The hotel is located just a couple blocks from the center of the city. In the evenings, we had several dining options just a 5-minute walk away.  Activities such as a helicopter tour are within walking distance and Wai-O-Tapu is a short drive away.  Overall we would highly recommend Regent of Rotorua for your accommodation in Rotorua. It is a fascinating town with ample options of activities.  Our pace felt rushed during our 2-day stay. When we return, we will likely stay at least 3 days so we can enjoy more of the property and town.
