Vacation Photo Wall Art

“We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.”

We purchased our DSLR camera in 2010 prior to our trip to Australia.  For the first couple trips we shot most of the photos in automatic mode.  When we realized the photos didn’t look any different than our little point and shoot, we realized we actually had to figure out what all the buttons on the camera did!  After photo courses, reading tutorials and some practice – we consider ourselves hobbyist photographers.  Our courses even taught us to upgrade our lens to ensure optimal performance!  Just don’t make us use a flash, we still have a lot to learn!

Our decision to purchase a DSLR was purely to capture our moments.  We really enjoy looking back on photos and reminiscing about the experiences we have had.  When we moved to Texas, our house gained much more wall space.  It is true what they say, “everything is bigger in Texas.”  We decided to turn our vacation moments into wall art in our home.

We have a two-story living room that left a large blank canvas to work with.  We purchased 4 very large canvases from Costco to fill the space.  These puppies measure 40×60 to give you an idea of the size.  They are conversation pieces for any visitors and we love telling stories of our travels that the photos evoke.

In another room, we used a wall to display photos of various animals we have seen during our excursions.

Finally, in our guest bedroom, we display a few beach photos that hopefully add a relaxing feel to our visitors.

Digital photos are great since we can capture so many moments however the art of printing is somewhat lost.  We love having these reminders throughout our house of the amazing adventures we have had.  Do you print your photos or do you just keep them in digital form?
